about lockwood ranch
Welcome to our ranch - we are glad you are here.
lance & jeannie
In 2021, Lance and Jeannie Ballard sold their home in Brentwood to relocate back to Franklin, Tennessee to find a suitable home on a parcel of land to grow organic and sustainably raised food. The Ballards purchased two Angus steers for personal consumption and began extensive research on the best feeds and ingredients for Health, Flavor, Tenderness and Marbling. Family and Friends began to take notice and soon enough both steers had been sold.
Cattlemen Lineage
Lance comes from a long lineage of Cattlemen and it was always his hearts desire to follow in those footsteps of his predecessors. He grew up working the summers on his uncles ranch in Mississippi and spending the next few decades dreaming about his own operation. He pays tribute to his Grandfather, Virgil E. Wright who passed away from a heart attack while rounding up a calf alone in the back pasture in 1967. It wasn’t until 2022 that Lance was able to round up his first calf for purchase at the same age as his Pappaw Virgil at his death. Even though they never met, they share a closeness and a bond with Lance taking over right where Virgil left off!
the land
As demand grew, so did the space requirements. The Ballards were able to secure 160+ acres of land to implement regenerative practices and restore the land back to its natural beauty. Today, the ranch is now being revitalized with the most environmentally friendly practices and producing the Healthy, Flavorful, Tender and Highly Marbled beef that the Ballards sought after.
